Designing and Teaching an Online Course is designed to help you learn to design and teach an online continuing education course.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Plan and design an interactive online course on a topic of their choice

  • Write a clear course goal and S.M.A.R.T. course objectives

  • Develop and choose learning activities and resources to support the course objectives and desired outcomes

  • Write a clear, complete syllabus

  • Apply copyright and fair use guidelines in the selection of content

  • Develop basic skills with Moodle

  • Apply best practices for facilitating an online course

Participants should have some expertise in the subject they want to teach. Online learning or teaching experience is not required.

This course focuses on planning and teaching rather than on building the course. Your finished syllabus will be submitted to The Academy's Moodle Admin who will build the course for you to teach.

No textbooks required; all resources will be provided online in the course.
